Frequently Asked Questions
Where are my walks stored?
Walk details, routes, and newly recorded videos are stored locally on your iPhone within ASMR Walk.
ASMR Walk does not require an account and does not upload your recordings to a developer-operated server.
Because recordings are stored locally, deleting ASMR Walk may also remove its locally stored walks and videos. Export or save anything you want to preserve before deleting the app.
How do I record a GPS Walk?
- Open the Walk tab.
- Allow location access when prompted.
- Tap the recording control to begin.
- Use the active recording banner to view progress or stop the walk.
- The completed walk will appear in History.
Why does background GPS recording stop?
Background GPS recording is optional and applies only to GPS Walks.
To use it:
- Open Settings inside ASMR Walk.
- Enable Background GPS Recording.
- Grant ASMR Walk Always location permission in iPhone Settings.
If Background GPS Recording is disabled or Always location access has not been granted, a GPS Walk may finalize when ASMR Walk leaves the foreground.
Video Walks always stop when the app leaves the foreground.
Why is my location not updating?
Confirm that Location Services are enabled and that ASMR Walk has permission to use your location.
Open iPhone Settings, select ASMR Walk, and review its location permission. Background GPS recording requires Always access. Foreground-only recording can use While Using the App access.
GPS accuracy may be reduced indoors, near tall buildings, or in areas with limited satellite visibility.
Why can’t I record a Video Walk?
Video Walks require both camera and microphone access.
Open iPhone Settings, select ASMR Walk, and enable:
- Camera
- Microphone
Return to ASMR Walk and open the Video Walk tab again.
Video Walk must remain in the foreground while recording.
How do I save a video to Photos?
- Open History.
- Select a saved Video Walk.
- Tap Save Video to Photos.
- Allow Photos access if prompted.
The original video remains in ASMR Walk, and a separate copy is saved to your Photos library.
What happens when I delete a Video Walk?
Deleting a recording removes its route, metadata, and app-managed video from ASMR Walk.
If you previously saved a copy to Photos, that Photos copy is not deleted. You can remove it separately using Apple’s Photos app.
Why does an older video need Photos access?
Earlier ASMR Walk recordings may reference a video stored in your Photos library. Read access is needed to replay those older Photos-backed videos alongside their saved routes.
New Video Walks are stored within ASMR Walk by default.
How do I export a route?
Open a recording from History and choose an available export option.
- GPX export preserves the complete recorded route and associated route metadata.
- Google Maps provides a convenient walking-route link, but it may not preserve every recorded route point.
Exports use the iOS share sheet. Information you share is handled by the destination you select.
How do I change the app’s appearance?
Open the Settings tab and select:
- System
- Light
- Dark
The System option follows your iPhone’s current appearance setting.
How do I view the introduction again?
Open Settings and tap Show Onboarding Again.
Privacy
ASMR Walk stores its data locally and does not use developer-operated accounts, analytics, advertising, synchronization, or backend storage in version 1.0.1.
Read the complete ASMR Walk Privacy Policy.
