Ginkaku-Ji

Ginkaku-Ji is also knon as the silver pavilion. A cousin temple to the more known Golden Pavilion also in Kyoto. Unlike the Golden Pavilion Ginkaku-Ji is not covered in silver but has a silver appeareance.
It is widely known for it’s zen gardens and the fact that it doesn’t get as crowded as the Golden Pavilion. The temple grounds are located on the west side of Kyoto and are close to many other temples and shrines. It is also in walking distance of train and subway stops.
One of it’s most known features is a sand mound shaped like Mt. Fuji.
When to go?
Any time of the year is a good time to go. I would recommend going after you go to the Golden Pagoda/Pavilion as a double header.

How to get there?
Ginkaku-Ji is located in western Kyoto. The train or subway station to use is: Demachiyanagi Station. Busses also run along the street up to the shrine.
