Lake Dardenelle State Park

Lake Dardenelle State Park is located just off I-40 in Russellville AR. It is one of the many state parks in Arkansas that you can camp in. The park is very nice but is geared towards fishing on Lake Dardenelle. All of the sites are back in sites except for a few on one of the loops. All sites had 20/30 amp electricity, water. Some sites also have 50 amp service and these tend to book up first.

The Big Texan is located just off Exit 78 in Russellville AR. The Campground is located about 7 miles from the interstate on two lane roads.

The campground is located right on the lake and some sites have lake views. There are multiple boat ramps available at the park if you have a boat and there is a marina that will rent boats also located within the park.

Review

We used this campground as stop over on our way east so that we could work during the week. We stayed for 3 nights arriving on a Sunday and leaving on a Wednesday for Little Rock. We chose the campground for its price and location just off of I-40.

We arrived around 3PM on Sunday and checked in with the office. We had to wait for a bit as the parking lot was filled up with trucks and bass boats. We had the pet rules explained to us which was basically pick up after your pet, keep the leashed, and don’t setup any outside fencing. We got to our site and backed in. Site setup areas can be tight especially if you have multiple slides. Setup was easy although we have a trees next to our rig that we had to maneuver around a bit.

You can hear road noise from the Interstate I’m the park which is to be expected as close as it is to the Interstate. Inside our trailer we can barely hear any noise. The sites are tight for the pull through sites but this is normal for a private campground in the city. This is a very transient park and people are arriving and leaving each day.

Our site had a sewer hookup which was very nice, it was only a 30 amp site which meant we had to juggle what we ran as we have a 50 amp rig.

It did rain while we were there which meant we needed to brush leaves off our roof as our site was tree covered. We were able to position our solar panels so that they picked up sunlight.

The showers were clean although we didn’t use it during out stay. There are fire rings but you must buy firewood from the camp host for $6 a bundle.

Shower house, contains shower and rest room, unisex.

If you are driving I40 across the country and want a good spot to stay off the beaten path for a few days to relax and recharge I would recommend Lake Dardenelle State Park.
