Kyoto

The Golden Pagoda

Kyoto was the capitol of Japan from the mid 700’s to the mid 1800’s. In the 1800’s the capitol of Japan was moved to Edo now Tokyo by the Emperor. During WWII Kyoto was spared from bombing by the allies and it has retained a large swath of it’s historical buildings. These can mainly be found in the Gion District and it’s surroundings.

Kyoto is home to mainly hi tech businesses the most notable one being Nintendo. Kyoto has and still houses many Anime houses, The most prominent one is Kyoto Animation. Most animation houses do not give tours but you can still take pictures and see the outside of the building if you so wish.

Kyoto is served a vast train system including Shinkansen Service from Tokyo and Osaka. Kyoto shares it’s airport with Osaka for international arrivals. Kyoto like most Japanese cities also has a vast bus network and a subway system.

Fushimi Inari Torii Gates

Since it was not heavily bombed during WWII Kyoto has many Historic monuments that can be visited and many traditional neighborhoods.
