Hiroshima Peace Park

The Bald Traveler Review:
The peace park is located just south of the Aioi bridge and is adjacent to the museum and the atomic bomb dome. The park consists of multiple memorials including the Cenotaph which overlooks a reflecting pool, the memorial flame, and the atomic bomb dome. The children’s peace memorial with it’s statue of Sasaki Sadako who folded over 1000 oragami cranes. Children from around the world send in their folded cranes which are displayed near the monument.
There is a bell located at the park as well as the peace clock. And there is a burial mound where 70,000 victims of the attack have their ashes buried.
When to go
The peace park is open 24 hours a day. A good time to go is at 8:15 AM when the clock tower chimes.

How to get there?
You can get to the peace park by walking. However, I recommend taking the Street car as it is a nice scenic ride and starts at the train station. There is an exit right near the dome, called the Atomic Bomb Dome Stop. You can also take the Hiroshima subway and walk a short distance from Hondori Station.

Cost
There is no charge to visit the park, there is a charge to visit the museum which is highly reccomended.
